The North Adelaide community centre, garden and library caters to a wide range of local residents and visitors.

Located in the heart of North Adelaide in the historic Institute Building, the community centre offers a vibrant program of regular activities and has many useful facilities the whole community can utilise.

Activites at the North Adelaide community centre

The Centre offers a range of activities to get involved in. Choose from craft sessions, language classes, multiple health, fitness and wellbeing classes or one of the many special interest activities. You’re sure to find an activity you’ll enjoy.

Volunteers are welcome to register to help out.

You’ll find the North Adelaide Community Centre at:

Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Community centre facilities

The centre is not only a meeting place for local residents but also an ideal venue for a range of events. Past events have included author talks, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Cup and Christmas gatherings.

With a small kitchen, stage area and seating for up to 120, spaces are also available for private hire, including a bookable exhibition space.

Library

The adjoining library, with traditional borrowing services, has free public internet and Wi-Fi access, computers for public use, photocopying, daily newspapers, eBooks, and the local history hub.

Community garden

Do you have a green thumb but no room? Do you like sharing your garden knowledge with others? You’ll love the raised garden beds available for community use. Contact the Centre for more information.

JP Service

Justice of the Peace services is available at the Centre. Provided by registered volunteers, no bookings required. 

  • Mondays and Wednesdays 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
  • Tuesdays 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Thursdays 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Fridays 10:00 am to 11:30 am

Getting here

If travelling by bus, alight at Stop 4 (West) & Stop 5 (East) on O'Connell Street. If using the free connector bus, alight at Stop Number 7.
