Pay for parking in the city

To make on-street parking in the city as simple as possible, there are a number of options for you to easily make a payment.

UPark app

Use your UPark app to make payments for both on-street (kerbside) and off-street (gated) parking. Scan the QR code to access the app.

Pay by plate

Using the ticket machine, enter your vehicle's registration number, choose the amount of time and tap your credit or debit card using the card reader.

Virtual ticket machine

Access the virtual ticket machine using the link on your on-street (kerbside) parking ticket to pay for extended parking using your mobile device.

UPark App

You can access the UPark App (a web app) by scanning the QR code displayed on the screen of the ticket machine or at app.customer.upark.com.

The UPark App can be used for both on-street and off-street parking.

Follow these 4 simple steps to pay using the UPark app:

    1. Scan the QR code on the ticket machine or open the UPark app using your mobile device

    2. Select the amount of time you want to park for

    3. Enter your vehicle’s registration number

    4. Enter your payment details, confirm and pay

    No, you can use the UPark app as a guest.

    Book

    Book is the prebook function for gated UParks. Customers can guarantee a car space at the following 7 UParks by prebooking: Topham Mall, Wyatt Street, Rundle Street, Pirie-Flinders, Frome Street, Grote Street, Gawler Place

    Park

    Park allows customers to purchase an electronic ticket from their smart phone instead of using a ticket machine for on-street and our 2 UParks that use ticket machines, 247 Pirie Street and 218 Flinders Street

    QuickPark

    QuickPark allows a customer to repeat a “Book” or “Park” session that they have done in the past. This can be done with as little as 3 clicks as it uses the saved data from those previous sessions

    Manage

    Allows customers to manage their active parks and future pre bookings. They can edit pre booking and extend park sessions.

    Search

    Search allows customers to search an area, specific carpark or on-street location. Search shows all paid on-street and off-street parking locations that fall under the UPark banner. 

    Real-time occupancy

    Real-time occupancy is available on the location page for both on-street and off-street parking, so you can find an available park with ease.

    Feedback

    Opens a feedback form allowing customers give a rating and write a comment.

    Scan the QR code on the ticket machine to begin. This will take you to the parking location you are at or if you already have the app click on Park and it will show the closet location to you if you are sharing your location.

    Alternatively, you can enter the location ID. The location ID is a 6-digit alphanumeric code, for example: PIR001. The location ID can be found in the search function.

    Select the amount time you would like to purchase, enter vehicle registration plate. Optional to select if you would like a receipt emailed to you or a SMS reminder when your session is expiring, A reminder SMS costs an additional $0.30.

    The time required can then be selected by sliding the slider. This defaults to the minimum time available and can be adjusted in 30-minute increments. Except when it is a flat fee then it selects the flat flee.

    If you opt in for a receipt or text message you will get an additional screen to fill in your details. If you do not choose this screen will get skipped.

    Enter credit card details.

    Confirm order, time purchased, rego, phone, email and payment fee. Then confirm and pay.

    You will then get an approved screen with the benefits of creating an account, however this is not a requirement.

    • Open search from home screen
    • Type a location to search and select from a drop-down menu - this will show you all on-street paid parking and off-street UParks in the searched area
    • You can click on an on-street location or off-street carpark to get more details of that location
    • Navigate to location opens google maps showing the route to get to the location
    • Control hours show the controls for the selected location
    • Parking Rates shows the rates for parking at the selected location

    Note: You cannot purchase a ticket from the search screen, a customer has to go into “Park” to make a purchase. This is to avoid customers making purchases for the wrong location. There is also a GPS warning if a customer tries to make a purchase for a location not near their current location.

    The UPark App is a progressive web app (PWA). 

    A PWA or 'web app' is essentially a website that you can install directly on your device, making it behave like a traditional app, without having to visit the app store.

    Once downloaded, it appears on your home screen just like an app, and when you open it, it runs in a way that will feel like a regular app - offering fast, easy access and a smooth user experience. It's like having a website experience, in an app environment, without having to visit the app store or download updates.

    No, you do not need to know your bay number to pay for parking.

    You will need to provide:

    • The amount of time you want to park for
    • Your vehicle’s registration number
    • Your payment details 

    Pay by plate

    Pay by plate is an easy, secure and paperless way to park in the City of Adelaide.

    Just follow these 3 simple steps to ‘pay by plate’:

      1. Enter your vehicle's registration number

      2. Choose the amount of time you want to park for

      3. Tap your credit or debit card (or mobile payment device) using the card reader 

      If you prefer not to use the touch screen, simply scan the QR code and follow the prompts on your mobile device.

      It’s that simple. There's no need to return to your vehicle to display a physical ticket on your dashboard.

      Once you have completed your parking transaction at the ticket machine, you will be asked if you want an e-receipt. If you select 'Yes, please’ there will be a couple of options:

      • Scan the QR code to load the receipt directly to your device, or
      • Note down the receipt code and go to ‘www.my-receipt.com’.

      You can also choose to register your email address so that all future e-receipts for your vehicle registration plate number will be emailed directly to you.

      Yes. If you return to the ticket machine and enter your vehicle registration plate number, you can check the remaining time on your ticket. If you need additional time, you can make a further payment. Please note you will only be able to park for the maximum amount of time shown on the parking signs.

      Yes, you can make another payment at the ticket machine to extend your time. Please note you will only be able to park for the amount of time shown on the parking signs. After this time, you must move your vehicle out of the area. If you purchase additional time and park for longer than the time on the signs, you may receive an Expiation Notice.

      The new solution is battery powered and multi carrier meaning if a telecommunication provider is unavailable it switches to another. This provides an incredibly high level of redundancy, however, should there be an issue, instructions directing users will be provided. For further assistance with a parking device outage please contact the Customer Centre on (08) 8203 7203.

      All payments are completed with fully certified PCIDSS terminals and software solutions. In addition, personal data does not need to be entered to park however it can be supplied if you wish to be emailed your receipt. This data is encrypted immediately and is not accessible, even by Council.

      No. Our Parking and Information Officers can see the details of all electronic tickets. They will match your vehicle’s registration plate number to your electronic ticket.

      If you receive an expiation and believe you had made a payment, please submit a request to review the expiation.


      Virtual Ticket Machine

      If you need additional time in your parking space, you can make an additional payment using the link provided on your receipt.

      You do not need to return to the ticket machine, you can access the Virtual Ticket Machine to make the payment directly from your mobile device.

      Please note you will only be able to park in line with parking time limits shown on the parking signs. After this time, you must move your vehicle out of the area.
