Rymill Park Upgrade
Project status – Works underway
About the project
We are upgrading ageing paths and installing new lighting in selected areas of Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka to improve safety and accessibility for all park users. This is the second and final stage of works, following the successful completion of earlier path upgrades in October 2024.
Why are we doing this?
The works will improve safety, accessibility, and visibility within the park by replacing aging infrastructure and enhancing lighting in key areas. These upgrades respond to community feedback and support the park’s role as a vibrant, welcoming public space.
When are we doing it?
Stage 1 – Completed October 2024
Initial path upgrades were completed ahead of the busy event season.
Stage 2 – Completed May 2025
Installation of new public lighting from the playground to Dequetteville Terrace. Major civil works for new lighting was completed in December 2024, with electrical works completed in May 2025 from the playground to Dequetteville Terrace.
Stage 3 – Final Stage (Mid-May to August 2025)
The final stage includes further path upgrades and the installation of new lighting around Rymill Park Lake and on the island.
· Works are expected to begin in mid-May 2025 and continue through to August 2025.
· Temporary site fencing and restricted access areas will be in place during construction.
· We’ll work to minimise disruptions, but some noise and access limitations may occur.
Community feedback
Community input has consistently emphasised the importance of safer, well-lit paths in Rymill Park. These works are a direct response to that feedback and will help create a more accessible environment for all.
