River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari Embankment Stabilisation works
We are undertaking works to make the northern riverbank near the University Footbridge safer.
This work will address movement in the embankment that is creating cracks in the adjacent path. It involves placement of a piled, low-level retaining wall and additional works to support this.
During this time, there will be signs detouring pedestrians and cyclists around the work zone (towards War Memorial Drive).
The University Footbridge is still open but may be closed for safety while the piling is in progress. If this happens, advance notice will be given.
Works were delayed due to the heavy rain and localised flooding back in June/July and changes to design and construction to avoid a main fibre optic network cable. This delay has meant works will now be completed in September.
