Digital Hub
Digital Literacy skills for all ages
The digital world we live in is an exciting place. Almost every daily function can be done online – from shopping and watching movies, to banking and even taxes!
The Adelaide City Libraries have created a Digital Hub, where people of all ages can learn, and get help with basic digital literacy skills, either in a supportive group environment, or in one-on-one sessions.
Very useful! Explained clearly, with lots of examples. I can feel more confident using the internet. – Digital Hub participant.
One-on-one assistance
Held at the City Library, Hutt Street and North Adelaide Libraries, our friendly group of volunteers can assist you in a one-on-one learning environment.
Topics include:
- Computers and Laptops
- Windows – Navigation, Internet or email basics
- Apple MacBook – Navigation, Internet or email basics
- Tablets and Phones
- Android devices - Navigation and App basics
- iPhones and iPads - Navigation and App basics
- Online Safety
Please be aware that one-on-one sessions are to be considered training sessions only and should not be taken as tech support. Examples include:
Training | Not Training |
How to I navigate Windows? | How do I install Windows? |
How do I use anti-virus software? | Can you remove this virus for me? |
Can you show me how to download a file from my USB? | Can you download these files from my USB for me? |
Volunteers and staff are not able to guarantee that a patron’s future training sessions will be with the same volunteer. Library staff can only book similar time slots, but sessions are dependent on volunteer availability, and may be covered by other volunteers.
Make a booking
Bookings are essential for one-on-ones. They can be made in person at any Adelaide City Library via phone 82037990 or online.
To book online simply browse our calendar for upcoming courses and click through to book. Please note: bookings cannot be made more than four weeks in advance.
Cancellations and feedback
If you need to cancel your booked session, please give 24 hours’ notice in consideration for our volunteers and to open the session to other customers.
Please note that in accordance with our Freedom of Accessibility Policy, no more than two active registrations can be booked at any one time. If you attend your second registration and there are still other sessions available, then you are more than welcome to book another session. This allows the opportunity for everyone to be able to access our great services.
If you have any feedback about the sessions, or any projects to discuss, we’d love to hear from you.
Volunteering
We welcome registrations of interest from volunteers. As a Digital Hub Volunteer, you will run one-on-one training with members of the public and assist in group training sessions.
Please see the City of Adelaide Volunteers section for more information.
