On behalf of the City of Adelaide, Lord Mayor Jane Lomax-Smith has acknowledged the passing of former Lord Mayor Henry Ninio.

“Henry Ninio was a significant figure in the life of our city and played an important role in raising the profile of Rundle Mall and the city’s burgeoning East End precinct,” said the Lord Mayor.

“Henry wasn’t just a passionate supporter of our city inside the council chamber, but outside of it as well. While he had a strong interest in planning issues and increasing the city’s population throughout his 14 years as a Councillor, Alderman, and Lord Mayor at the City of Adelaide, he was also a member of the Rundle Mall committee, a group formed to attract more people to shop in the Mall.

“My thoughts are with his wife, Lynette, his children Daniel and Jacqueline, and his grandchildren.”

Henry Ninio was elected as the 75th Lord Mayor of Adelaide in 1993 and served two terms. He was a member of the Council from 1983 to 1997.
