The City of Adelaide has today announced that John Pearce and George Roussos have been selected to join the board of the iconic Adelaide Central Market.

The two property and development leaders join Theo Maras AM, Nicole Haack, Steve Marafiote, Christine Locher and Councillor Alexander Hyde.

Mr Maras said the new board members bring a wealth of skills and experience to the Adelaide Central Market Authority (ACMA) board.

“In John, who is a senior centre manager with CBRE, we have an accomplished property executive, with an extensive national track record of success for our board to benefit from,” said Mr Maras.

“George, Director of ROUSSOS Development & Advisory, is a driven and collaborative development professional with over 20 years’ experience in the sector.

“I know they will each make a strong contribution during an incredibly exciting and important period for the Adelaide Central Market and the precinct, so I look forward to working with them.”

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor endorsed the selection panel’s decision.

“The panel had a strong field of candidates to consider and they have selected two talented new board members who will do an outstanding job,” said the Lord Mayor.

“Along with Theo and the existing board members, John and George have important work ahead of them in leading our world-renowned Adelaide Central Market through a very busy 2022 and beyond.

“Next year is going to be an exciting period of change as work on Market Square gets underway and I know Theo, ACMA General Manager Jodie Kannane and the board are committed to helping traders through this period.

“They will continue to trade throughout construction and their patience will be rewarded with something truly special for the precinct in the delivery of the Market Square project.”
