City of Adelaide Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor is anticipating a fun night out with the range of events on offer saying, “there truly is something for everyone in the city this New Year’s Eve.”
“Following last year’s cancellation, we had to find ways to adapt and spread the large crowds across multiple areas of the city and North Adelaide and I’m genuinely excited about what’s planned,” said the Lord Mayor.
“The new lighting and fireworks show will be a hybrid event as we adapt to more environmentally friendly initiatives to ring in the new year with a bang.
“Light Up presented by Gluttony in Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka will be a fun night out for the family, while spreading the Midnight Moments across six areas in the city and North Adelaide will provide a boost to even more traders.
“We are asking people to be prepared this year. Plan your night, book your tickets and given the last couple of years I think it’s important people can come together and celebrate.”
Gluttony co-directors Elena Kirschbaum and Daniel Michael are excited to be presenting Light Up.
“The Gluttony team are really excited to being able to bring some of that festival season magic to the special occasion of New Year’s Eve with Light Up,” said Mr Michael.
“We’re looking forward to creating Light Up as a fun, relaxing and enjoyable event for Adelaideans of all ages in our favourite park, Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka.
“Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka is such a wonderful space to activate for events like Light Up, with its lake, undulating hillsides and tree canopy creating an enchanting atmosphere in which to experience live entertainment and celebrate community.
“Bringing together some of the artists, food vendors and bespoke bars you know and love from Fringe, with the extra spectacle of lighting and pyrotechnic shows in the East End, we’re delighted that Light Up will play a part in creating an unforgettable New Year’s Eve in Adelaide.”
To help people plan their night, UPark will be offering $4 flat rate parking for customers who prebook at selected UPark locations.
