New grants for city businesses

The City of Adelaide and the State Government of South Australia are investing an additional $200,000 to revitalise mainstreets and laneways by directly supporting city retailers and hospitality businesses impacted by COVID-19 to attract visitors to priority precincts in the City and North Adelaide.

The previous two rounds of mainstreets and laneways grants, funded by the City of Adelaide and the State Government to reignite the City, have supported 78 businesses with a total budget of $650,000.

Additional Shopfront Improvement Grants, another Reignite Adelaide initiative, saw a further investment of $600,000 to enhance the street appeal of 92 businesses.

Small businesses, organisations and property owners along the main streets and laneways in the precincts of Hutt, Hindley, Gouger Street, Rundle, Melbourne and O’Connell Streets, as well as Sturt and Halifax Street precincts, are encouraged to apply for funding to activate and improve their exteriors, outdoor areas and the overall street amenity to attract visitors and customers.

Grants from $2,000 to a maximum of $10,000 are available, with the applicants contributing at least 20 per cent of the total costs of the proposed improvements.

The funding supports city retailers and hospitality businesses impacted by COVID-19 to attract visitors to priority precincts. This funding will contribute to Council’s Mainstreet Revitalisation objective of attracting people back to the city.

The grant information and online application is available here: Mainstreets Revitalisation & Improvement Grants

Applications are now open and close 4pm, Monday 11 July 2022.
