Mark Goldstone departs council

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

Chief Executive Officer, Mark Goldstone, has been taking personal leave since January 2021 to deal with some health issues.

It is therefore with great sadness that I advise you today that after 5 and a half years with the City of Adelaide, Mark has decided he needs to take the time to focus on these health challenges and has chosen to leave our organisation. His last day will be Friday, 30 April 2021.

Mark joined the City of Adelaide as CEO in 2015, and brought with him more than 25 years' experience in local government interstate and here in South Australia, including with Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council and the City of Prospect.

Mark has led the City of Adelaide through much transformational change and his leadership is characterised by his commitment to boosting economic growth, expanding smart city-based initiatives and fostering strong relationships with the Adelaide business and property development community. Notable achievements of the Administration during his time with the City of Adelaide include the rollout of Ten Gigabit Adelaide, the purchase of 88 O'Connell St for redevelopment, the commencement of the major redevelopment of Adelaide Central Market Arcade, the Market to Riverbank redevelopment, and the restructure of the Organisation to enable us to deliver on our strategic plan and to deliver value for our ratepayers.

He leaves behind a highly engaged team striving to deliver great outcomes for our customers and for a City that is one of the most liveable in the world.

We wish Mark all the best for his future.

In the interim, I thank Clare Mockler for her continued support as Acting CEO.

The Administration is in the capable hands of our Executive. A CEO recruitment process will commence in due course.

Sandy Verschoor
Lord Mayor of Adelaide
