Looking for the paw-fect place to hang with your best fur-friend? The City of Adelaide has you covered.

We’ve launched a new dog friendly trail, made up of over 30 businesses across the city and North Adelaide, where you and your dog can enjoy a special treat and take in some local art.

As part of the City of Adelaide’s Recover + Reimagine project, Council has created a trail called Follow My Lead to increase foot traffic to our local businesses, many of which have been hit hard by COVID-19.

It will highlight dog friendly venues and businesses, all of which are offering special dog-related experiences or displaying artwork, including oversized dog bowls painted by local artists.

Along the trail, dogs can lap up free doggy cappuccinos, tasty treats and find free tennis balls.

Owners can also spoil their best mates by buying dog related products including jackets, toys, leads, collars and beds.

There will be an exhibition by South Australian artist Cat Leonard - well known for her gorgeous animal portraits – at The Howling Owl on Vaughan Place in the East End.

There will be a few pieces hanging in the window with many more to be discovered inside.

Animal-themed art will also be on display at the Quest on Franklin Apartment Hotel, Penny Gale, Acacia Arts and the Adelaide Travellers Inn.

Pupparazzi can also spot portraits of pooches with our ‘Dogs of Hutt Street’ paste ups on street corners and shopfronts.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor is looking forward to taking her border collie puppy, Scout, out on the trail.

“This is an opportunity for dog lovers to discover new places to visit in the city and North Adelaide,” the Lord Mayor said.

“We know our businesses and hospitality venues have been hit hard by the pandemic so follow the trail, enjoy a delicious coffee at a cafe, do some shopping and see the art– all while spoiling your furry friends.”

Follow My Lead will run until 31 August and a map of participating City businesses can be viewed at: https://explore.cityofadelaide.com.au/blog/follow-my-lead-dog-and-art-trail/
