Notably, he served as the Head of Corporate Affairs in Australia for a global publicly listed energy business for 18 years. In addition, Mr Kouts presently serves as the Chair of HomeStart and occupies various non-executive director and senior advisory roles.
AEDA Board chair Nikki Govan welcomed the appointment of Mr Kouts, who will succeed businessman Manuel Ortigosa at the conclusion of his term.
"The Board is enthusiastic about harnessing Jim's expertise in commercial decision-making, his adeptness in fostering and sustaining interpersonal relationships, and capacity to provide a clear strategic focus,” said Ms Govan. “His expertise will be a valuable addition to AEDA’s skills-based Board.”
Ms Govan thanked Mr Ortigosa for his contribution to the AEDA Board during his term.
“Manuel brought with him over 30 years of experience in the business sector and executive government positions."
The appointment of Mr Kouts follows the recent reappointment of Ms Govan as AEDA Board chair for another year, with current Deputy Chair Steve Maras to transition into the role for two years at the conclusion of her term.
