3 wellbeing tips to shake up 2020

It’s been a big year… so be extra kind to yourself and take care of your mental and physical health as this year comes to a close. Here’s some simple ways to sprinkle some good back into your days.

Embrace good food

With burgers rolling up at the touch of a button, takeaway has been a booming business during the pandemic. A few too-frequent clicks can take a toll on our bodies and bank accounts. Studies have shown unhealthy food is related to feeling depressed and stressed. Set yourself a goal of cooking a healthy meal at least a few nights a week and we've got you started with some recipes below.

Switch the drink

During the pandemic, many Australians have been drinking more than usual these last few years. The long-term effects of alcohol on your body have been shown to include depression, poor memory, heart disease and many many more. Switch the spirits for something more wholesome and give your health a boost.

Step it up

"You already know how good exercise is for your physical health. But you might be surprised by how good exercise is for your mental health. Studies show that for treating mild-moderate depression, exercise can be as effective as talking therapy and medication."

It’s hard to argue with the science but it can still be hard to actually get moving! The best thing to do is to try out a bunch of different activities until you find one that suits your body and interests. Pilates is low impact, tennis can be wonderfully social or simply walking can do wonders. Get some ideas below.
