Together, we are stronger

The collective efforts of Adelaideans have allowed SA Health to recently ease COVID-19 restrictions and while this period has impacted the community, it has also shone a light on the resilience and generosity of our state.

With the city on its journey to recovery, now is the time to welcome people back to the city with open arms (at a distance, of course). We know that it has been an incredibly difficult period for businesses, so we’re making it easier for everyone to experience all that our city has to offer, introducing support initiatives to enable you to better optimise your space, reduce your fees and risk, and encourage you to invest and innovate.

Australia’s most liveable city is delivering on its commitment to be the lowest cost capital city with the least red tape.

Together, let's Reignite Adelaide.

Opportunities for your business

We're here to help. The following support initiatives are currently on offer for city businesses. More initiatives will be available in the coming weeks and months, find out more here.

Whether your hospitality business already has an outdoor dining area or you’re looking to create one, we’re encouraging businesses to contact us so we can support you to serve as many customers as possible while activating the city in a safe manner, until the end of October 2021. Opportunities are available to expand your outdoor dining capacity by making the most of underutilised footpaths or expanding onto the road temporarily using one of our parklets. Find out more here.

Any construction permit applications received for works occurring up to 30 September 2021 will be eligible for a 50% discount. Find out more and calculate your permit fee here

The City of Adelaide and Business SA have partnered to offer city businesses specialised services to support the response of city businesses to impacts of COVID-19, promote business capability and better position themselves in an increasingly globalised and digitally connected marketplace. If you are a personal trainer, fitness instructor or gym operator wishing to use the Adelaide Park Lands or City Squares to provide fitness services, activities and/or instruction to people, a City of Adelaide Fitness Activity Permit is being offered fee of charge for the next 2 months, expiring on 31 October 2021. The Events and Festivals Sponsorship Program and Events Recovery Fund are administered by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA), a subsidiary of the City of Adelaide.

Events and festivals are an important lever to encourage people back into the city. The purpose of the Events Recovery Fund is to support the events industry as it continues to face challenges as a result of the long-term impacts of COVID-19.

The program will offer 3 categories of funding designed to assist in the staging of COVID-safe events that help drive visitation, spend and vibrancy for the city:

  • Quick Response – up to $10,000
  • Expansion of Existing Events – up to $50,000
  • New Events – up to $200,000

Applications are open until 30 April 2022 or when funds are exhausted.

As at 10 September 2021, the funding pool is $765,000 and is subject to change.

Information on how to apply and the program Guidelines can be found here.

At the meeting of Council on 10 August 2021, it was approved that site hire fees for events held in the Park Lands would be waived for a period of 12 months. This was done to encourage local, interstate and international event organisers to present new, interesting and diverse works in Adelaide to attract visitation and support for city businesses by reducing their upfront costs and risks.

Site Fees for all Park Land events and application fees for all Road events will be waived from 10 August 2021 until 10 August 2022.

Please note that costs associated with operational requirements (such as power, water, bins etc) and any site remediation will continue to apply.
