Working together to Reignite Adelaide

With the city on its journey to recovery, now is the time to welcome people back to the city with open arms (at a distance, of course). We know that it has been an incredibly difficult period for businesses, so we’re making it easier for everyone to experience all that our city has to offer, introducing support initiatives to enable you to better optimise your space, reduce your fees and risk, and encourage you to invest and innovate.

At the special meeting on Friday 21 January 2022, Council adopted more than 20 initiatives under the Reignite Adelaide plan to support city businesses and encourage more people to return to the city and North Adelaide.

The following support initiatives are currently on offer with more initiatives available in the coming weeks and months.

Events and festivals are an important lever to encourage people back into the city. The purpose of the Events Recovery Fund is to support the events industry as it continues to face challenges as a result of the long-term impacts of COVID-19.

The program will offer 3 categories of funding designed to assist in the staging of COVID-safe events that help drive visitation, spend and vibrancy for the city:

  • Quick Response – up to $20,000
  • Expansion of Existing Events – up to $50,000
  • New Events – up to $200,000

Applications are open until 30 April 2022 or when funds are exhausted.

As at 15 February 2022 the balance of the funding pool is $837,500 and is subject to change.

Information on how to apply and the program Guidelines can be found here.

City and North Adelaide businesses can apply for up to $5,000 grant funding to expand their offerings outdoors and onto the footpath, street, or Park Lands.

Eligible businesses are encouraged to apply for funding to trial a new concept or idea to attract customers in an outdoor COVID-safe setting. Funding will be for new concepts and temporary short-term infrastructure required to increase visibility of the business.

Applications are open until 5pm, Thursday 30 June 2022. Find out more here.

At the meeting of Council on 10 August 2021, it was approved that site hire fees for events held in the Park Lands would be waived for a period of 12 months. This was done to encourage local, interstate and international event organisers to present new, interesting and diverse works in Adelaide to attract visitation and support for city businesses by reducing their upfront costs and risks.

Site Fees for all Park Land events and application fees for all Road events will be waived from 10 August 2021 until 10 August 2022.

Please note that costs associated with operational requirements (such as power, water, bins etc) and any site remediation will continue to apply.

Due to the success of the temporary parklet initiative delivered through Reignite Adelaide, we are pleased to advise that this is being extended to enable businesses to maximise the benefit through the festival period. Expand your outdoor dining capacity by making the most of underutilised footpaths or by expanding onto the road temporarily using one of our parklets.

Requests for additional temporary parklets are now open, with the program extended to the end of June 2022. Find out more here.
