Vote For City Of Adelaide Prize People's Choice

The community is invited to vote for the 2015 City of Adelaide Prize ‘People’s Choice’ Award from 30 March, with the Adelaide Oval and Victoria Square redevelopments among the nominated projects.

Run by the SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects and sponsored by the Council, the Prize is a category in the prestigious South Australian Architecture Awards, to be announced on 3 July. Nominations are:

• Adelaide Botanic Gardens – TCL with SKM, David Lancashire Design and Paul Thompson
• Princess Elizabeth Playground – City of Adelaide
• City of Adelaide Wayfinding – City of Adelaide
• Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga (Stage 1) – City of Adelaide and TCL
• Riverbank Bridge – Aurecon, Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and TCL
• Adelaide Oval Redevelopment – Cox Architecture, Walter Brooke and Hames Sharley
• Jeffrey Smart Building, UniSA – John Wardle Architects with Phillips/Pilkington Architects

Lord Mayor Martin Haese said the Council has a long association with the Prize, which this year has attracted high-profile and innovative projects that showcase some of Adelaide’s best architecture.

“There are some big contenders in the running for the Prize, which reflects the exciting changes under way across the City of Adelaide,” he said.

“I’d like to congratulate all nominees and encourage the community to vote for their favourite project before voting closes on 13 April.”

The Prize promotes design outcomes that celebrate positive experiences and the activation of places within the City of Adelaide.

It recognises innovative built projects that bring the streets and spaces of Adelaide city alive, engage with the community and make it a great place to live, work and have fun.

Last year’s City of Adelaide Prize winner was Café Troppo in Whitmore Square, while the People’s Choice Award went to the Food for Life parklet in Gawler Place, both by Troppo Architects.

Online voting for the People’s Choice Awards is open from 30 March until 13 April.

Local residents are invited to attend the Jury Presentation Day on Saturday 28 March at the University of South Australia, Kaurna Building and hear this year’s entrants present their projects to the juries.
