Penny-farthings, BMXs, Findon Skid Kids, Pedal Prix and fast track racers are just some of the events on offer as Victoria Park comes alive with all things cycling at Velo in the Park on Sunday 18 May between 10am and 3pm.

Part of the Velo-fringe festival, a celebration of the great things about cycling in Adelaide, Velo in the Park will bring a variety of cycling groups, bike enthusiasts, merchandisers and bike caterers to Victoria Park to showcase it as the great cycling hubs it has become.

City of Adelaide Deputy Lord Mayor Natasha Malani says Victoria Park is a great place to grow a cycling community, with its easily accessible bike paths and close proximity to the centre of the City.

“There’s no doubt that cycling is a great mode of transport, but it’s also the kind of activity that can appeal to the whole family,” said Natasha

“Velo in the Park is a day for all the family, with different attractions for different interests and age groups - I encourage everyone to get along and enjoy some great food and beverages and get into the spirit of cycling.

“Victoria Park, with its criterium track is already very popular with individuals and specialist groups and this event will give these interest groups and the whole community the chance to come together and celebrate the space and of course cycling,” she said.

For people, young and young at heart, wanting to try cycling or considering purchasing a bike, there will be free bike hire and bike education sessions run by Bike SA, as well as come and try sessions, a top 12 pedal prix race-off and hand-cycling to name just a few activities.

For those who ride their bikes to Victoria Park, a complementary bike minding service will accompany conveniently located on site bike racks.
