TEDxAdelaide At The Town Hall

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

Tickets are selling fast for TEDxAdelaide, so don’t miss your chance to get along to Town Hall to hear from some truly inspirational speakers on Saturday 21 November.

Hosted by local journalist Tory Shepherd, TEDxAdelaide is an independently organised event that welcomes speakers like Dr Karen Nelson-Field, Peter Drew, Dr James Muecke and Raymond Spencer.

Event Director Robin Freeth said ticket sales were flying along but that people could still book their place for what will be a truly memorable experience.

“TEDx events are about discovering ideas from the local community and we have an amazing array of talented people who are leading thought in their respective areas. Adelaide is on the verge of something special and events like TEDxAdelaide help us to discover new ideas and stretch our thinking,” said Robin.

Lord Mayor Martin Haese will be in the audience on the day as a long time TED fan and wants to see many more TEDx events in the years ahead.

“During my election campaign I said that I wanted to see TEDx in Adelaide this year and I’m delighted it’s coming to fruition later this month,” said Martin.

“Adelaide has a long history of firsts going back over 175 years and this is yet another first, with Town Hall hosting its first ever TED event.

“TEDx Adelaide will help us build a vibrant, diverse and progressive Adelaide and I look forward to seeing many hundreds of people in Town Hall for the event.”

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At the TEDxAdelaide event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.
