Up to 3,000 top performing sales representatives from Chinese company Perfect China have descended on the city to experience a unique welcome that only Adelaide can offer.

Lord Mayor Martin Haese said the City of Adelaide was keen to get involved because it was another way to show what a welcoming city we are to our Chinese friends.

“We are one of the friendliest cities in the world that is known for our multiculturalism, accessibility, and our clean and green reputation,” said Martin.

“Adelaide is a vibrant city with a world-famous Central Market and Chinatown district, and high-quality food and wine. With our recently installed wayfinding signage, our guests will be able to navigate the city with ease.”

Bilingual signage in English and Chinese has been erected marking each of the eight city attractions featured in Council’s visitor map and further signage assists visitors with wayfinding between each of the eight destinations.

The Lord Mayor also noted the economic benefits with the Perfect China incentive tour predicted to inject
$11.2 million to the state’s visitor economy and create and support 110 jobs within the tourism sector.

“This is good news for our retail sector, hotels and restaurants, as incentive tourism is a great way for international visitors to experience a destination and then return with family and friends later for an extended holiday,” said Martin.

“Adelaide provides ease of access, affordability and a multitude of authentic Australian offerings highly sought after by the Chinese market such as our beautiful wine regions nearby.

“Hosting this event places Adelaide on the map for future large incentive groups from the greater Asian region and is an excellent way for city businesses to be introduced to new customers.”

The City of Adelaide has produced maps, coordinated special retail offers, hosted a dedicated “Welcome” WeChat page, web page and wayfinding for our guests, and has been working closely with the Adelaide Convention Bureau (ACB).

It is the first time in history that a large scale incentive group has visited South Australia from Asia and is also the largest incentive initiative ever undertaken by the ACB. The delegation is split into two groups of 1,500 guests with the first having arrived on Saturday and the second group arriving from 24 June. The bureau’s chief executive officer Damien Kitto said that in order to win the opportunity to host the group, the bureau had to demonstrate that Adelaide had a world class offering with the capability to create a program that will inspire delegates.

“With Adelaide’s rich diversity of venues, premium produce, pristine natural wonders, all under a perfect climate, we are confident through our business events expertise, that our beach-side city will deliver an unforgettable event,” Damien said.
