The City of Adelaide is excited to expand its car parking App to also show parking availability in the City of Unley and City of Marion.

Launched in 2019, the “Park Adelaide” App has been a helpful resource for city motorists, displaying real time on-street parking availability and information, whilst also processing payments and allowing motorists to monitor their stay and extend their time.

The City of Adelaide has partnered with both Unley and Marion Council’s to expand the App’s range across the broader metropolitan Adelaide, using in-ground parking sensors supplied by Smart Parking.

City of Adelaide Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor believes this is an important demonstration in Council collaboration.

“We know finding a park can often be a concern for those in our city, so having the one App, providing real time availability across an increased area will make it easier for motorists to make a day of it and travel around Adelaide,” said the Lord Mayor.

“This is just the beginning, the City of Adelaide is open to working with other Councils to further expand the area covered by the App to provide a unified experience for all motorists.

“The Park Adelaide App is part of our smart parking technology system providing reliable and timely information, positioning Adelaide as a leading smart city.

“It also provides Council with valuable data and insights about parking demand and motorist behaviour to assist with future decision making.”

City of Unley Mayor Michael Hewitson AM said, “it’s wonderful to be involved in a bigger-picture view of parking that includes the City of Adelaide and City of Marion in the creation of this app. Both have popular shopping, food and recreation destinations, and are places which many South Australians choose to visit regularly.”

“In Unley, one of our premiere shopping and dining precincts is the revitalised King William Road, with recreational facilities at nearby Heywood Park. These areas are where our Council has introduced smart technology to assist our residents and visitors.

“The new app’s real-time technology removes uncertainty for motorists wanting to access our cities, but who may have concerns about parking availability. This app allows drivers to see spaces that are

“This initiative is a game-changer. We want to encourage people to our precincts, and this app will assist drivers to make instant decisions about visitation, which will potentially see them spending more time and money in these locations to help stimulate and support local businesses.”

Marion Council Mayor Kris Hanna said “the app will save time for motorists by directing them to the first available park”.

“Motorists in the Marion Council area can already use the app to get the best park among the numerous carparks around the Oaklands Railway Station.

“Soon this handy app will be available for the 105 car parks at the Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre, which is under construction, and a further 20 at the Hallett Cove foreshore.

The ‘Park Adelaide’ app is available to download from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
