Hot Topic - Football fans leaving Adelaide Oval

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

In response to the story in today's Advertiser alleging football fans are causing litter or damage to community infrastructure in North Adelaide:

City of Adelaide is an enthusiastic supporter of the construction of the new Adelaide Oval and all the benefits it brings to the city and surrounding suburbs.

We are following up advice from some Councillors about graffiti and damage to local signs but there isn’t evidence to suggest footy fans are responsible.

Our City Safety team, who work closely with SA Police, haven’t had any issues raised with them about people attending Adelaide Oval events causing disruption or damage in the neighbourhood.

Our Customer Service Centre hasn’t had any reports of damage and likewise, our parking teams who are in the area on game days haven’t reported anything like this from event crowds.

Our cleansing staff continue to monitor and clean the busier thoroughfares in and around North Adelaide for litter, to resolve any extra needs there.

Regardless of whether there is an event at Adelaide Oval or not, people are encouraged to call SA Police in the first instance in response to antisocial behaviour or our Customer Service Centre on 8203 7203 if they need to report damage to community assets.
