Have your say on how to make sure the City of Adelaide is the premiere retail destination in South Australia for years to come. City of Adelaide is developing the Adelaide City Retail Strategy and invites the public to play their part.

Consultation on the development of the Retail Strategy is open from today (Monday 26 August 2013) until 5pm Friday 20 September 2013 and this is the public’s opportunity to provide their views to the Council.

Council is working with a number of partners in developing the Adelaide City Retail Strategy, a key element of our Prosperous City Strategy. It will give us a better understanding of the City’s unique elements.

“Council is keen for community input to ensure a thriving, successful retail sector across the City of Adelaide and all of its precincts - after all, it’s the community who will benefit,” Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said.

“As a Capital City, the opportunities for business, retail, tourism and recreation are incredibly important and making sure there are a variety of opportunities for people to be involved in the City and all it has to offer”.

“The Adelaide City Retail Strategy is aimed at making Adelaide the destination of choice for people looking for exciting retail, business or cultural experiences”.

“The Strategy will link to our strategy to the Rundle Mall Management Authority’s Masterplan and our approach to developing our Early Evening Economy Strategy to ensure a better overall outcome for the City.”

“Everyone is encouraged to have their say on how they would like to see the City’s retail experience develop over the next five years,” said Stephen.

Retail IQ International, headed by renowned Retail Strategist Martin Haese, will guide the process. A well-known name in retail, innovation and entrepreneurship, Martin has worked with business and communities across Australia as well as overseas.

“This is a real chance for the entire Adelaide community to get involved in shaping the City’s retail landscape into the future and I encourage everyone to take part” said Martin.

The Adelaide City Retail Strategy is supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission and the Rundle Mall Management Authority.
