25 years of dedicated service to the City of Adelaide

Councillor Anne Moran today marks 25 years of service to the City of Adelaide. First elected as a City Councillor in 1995, Councillor Moran has served as Deputy Lord Mayor between 1999 and 2000 and is the first female Councillor to achieve 25 years of continuous service with the City of Adelaide.

A long-term resident of North Adelaide and business owner in the city, Councillor Moran is a dedicated Councillor who has a reputation for being a tireless and passionate advocate for community concerns.

Councillor Moran has chaired the Central Market Authority and the Development Assessment Panel and has been a member of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre Authority and the State Heritage Authority.

She has also served on the Board of the Adelaide Festival Centre and the SA Motorsport Board.

In December 2015, Councillor Moran was part of the first ever City of Adelaide Council Chamber comprising a balance of male and female Council Members. Councillor Moran arranged for a permanent photographic display of the female Adelaide City Councillors in the Adelaide Town Hall to mark this achievement.

This has since received a great deal of positive attention and is noted on Town Hall tours. Councillor Moran hopes this permanent memento will continue to raise awareness of the role of women in Local Government and the need to encourage more women to nominate for elected positions.

Councillor Moran has also been a strong advocate for the safety of nurses who work within the city, particularly their safety while getting to and from their vehicles, as well as for increased childcare facilities in the City of Adelaide.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor congratulated Councillor Moran on her outstanding record of service.

“Anne has been a fearless advocate for her community over 25 years, always standing up for what she believes in and her election record shows that Anne’s had strong community support,” said the Lord Mayor.

Councillor Moran features in the Suffrage 125 City of Adelaide Honour Roll.
