City of Adelaide Community Centres have re-opened.

The Adelaide South West Community Centre is open for PC use by appointment. To book a one hour slot, Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, please call 8203 7801.

The Adelaide South West community centre hosts a diverse program of events, activities and groups for local residents.

The centre has been a valuable part of the South West community since 2005, encouraging friendly interaction amongst neighbours and enhancing the wellbeing of participants.

Activities at the community centre

The wheelchair accessible centre is not only a meeting place but also an ideal venue for a range of events.

Choose from art and craft activities, health and wellbeing classes and meetings. You can learn a language, cook up a storm or share a meal with members of your local community

There is also a range of community and special interest groups who meet at the Adelaide South West Community Centre on a regular basis. The South West City Community Association host regular activities and community meetings.

Volunteers are always welcome to register to help at the centre.

Community centre facilities

The centre’s facilities include a small kitchen, tables and chairs, microphones, projector, screens and whiteboard. Space is available for private hire, including a bookable exhibition space.

Residents can take advantage of free WiFi and public computers. Photocopying, printing and scanning services are also available, as are basic library services. You can collect your library book/DVD from the centre.

Equipment for hire

There are a range of items that can be borrowed from the Community Centre: gardening equipment, trestle tables, wheelbarrow and a sack truck. Simply contact staff to arrange.

Did you know the centre holds games equipment that can be used at nearby Whitmore Square/Iparrityi? This includes the key to the giant chess set, basketballs and table tennis equipment.

Community garden

The Adelaide South West Community Centre is involved with the local community gardens on Whitmore Square / Iparrityi verge (Western side of Whitmore Square). Contact them to see how you can join in.

Getting to Adelaide South West community centre

On Foot: The Centre is about five minutes' walk from the Adelaide Central Market.

By Tram: Alight at the City South stop and walk west along Sturt Street (approximately six minutes)

By Bus: The free City Connector bus passes along Sturt Street (Stop 83) every 15 minutes in both directions. Routes 98A and 98C serve the free city and North Adelaide loop. Routes 99A and 99C serve the free city loop.
