Explore and rediscover Melbourne Street, North Adelaide as you follow an open air art trail featuring five established South Australian artists' work on walls and shop fronts.

Following the success of SALA 21, this year's Open Air Gallery features 20 plus large scale images from artists Frank Grauso, Mark Kimber, Loene Furler, Deborah Paauwe and Mary Ann Santin.

The artworks can be viewed 24/7 during August on the exterior windows of Melbourne Street businesses in North Adelaide. Wander the art trail at your leisure, stopping for brunch, lunch, a drink or a spot of retail therapy along the way.

2023 Featured Artists

Furler image

Loene Furler is an artist and mentor who has taught at most arts institutions in Adelaide, with studios in North Adelaide. Her work shown in this art trail feature landscape paintings, many created at Oratunga Station, Flinders Ranges, looking north, east, south, and west.

Grauso image

Frank Grauso also has studios in North Adelaide. During Covid, he transitioned from a drawing and painting practice to an exclusively digital one, creating bright abstractions. These new shifts in work appear on the Melbourne Street art trail.

Kimber image

Mark Kimber is a photo-based artist and Studio Head of Photography and New Media at the University of South Australia. He was SALA’s 2012 Feature Artist and regularly shows at Greenaway Gallery, represented by GAG Projects.

Paauwe image

Deborah Paauwe is a contemporary photographer who enjoyed the accolade of SALA’s Feature Artist in 2004. Her Photographs are based on youthful memories of how it felt to be growing up, with life in a state of flux. Paauwe is represented by GAG Projects.

Santin image

Mary Ann Santin is a local artist, curating seven community art projects for the City of Adelaide since 2014. Her sculpture, Memorial to an Ash Tree, and other works included in this art trail explore her themes around memory and loss.
