Mary-Lou Jarvis

Mary-Lou Jarvis is the youngest female to have been elected a Councillor of the City of Adelaide, serving two terms (1987-1990) before she turned 30.

Jarvis studied Law at the University of Adelaide and worked as a solicitor and barrister in private practice, specialising in planning and environment law then as corporate counsel.

Jarvis represented the MacDonnell Ward in North Adelaide and served on the Works and Parks Committee, Finance and Administration Committee and the Sesquicentenary Committee. She served as Chair of the Council's Planning and Development Committee and was also appointed to the City of Adelaide Planning Commission.

More recently, she has advised three Federal Government Ministers including the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, former Prime Minister of Australia, and in 2017 was appointed Vice President of the Liberal Party of Australia NSW Division and President of the NSW Liberal Women’s Council.
