Opportunities with our new Chinese visitors
Over the next 12 months there is potential for almost 35,000 visitors from China to arrive in Adelaide. This is a wonderful opportunity for retail, hospitality and tourism businesses in the Adelaide CBD as we will be the first “port of call” for these visitors.
City of Adelaide has developed a ‘Welcome to Adelaide’ WeChat account, which will highlight shopping, dining and sightseeing in the City and will be promoted to the Chinese visitors when they arrive in Adelaide.
If you believe your business is ‘China Relevant’ we welcome you to complete an Expression of Interest to be listed on the WeChat account and be involved in this initiative.
We are recommending that businesses try to implement some simple measures to maximize the opportunity for their business. These may include signage, window stickers, or translation of material that highlights your unique service or products. For some more information regarding this, please download the South Australian Tourism Commission guidelines and fact sheets here.
If you do not already have Union Pay, we believe this is an important element for all businesses to activate.

Recharge Points for Mobility Scooters & Electric Wheelchairs
Expand you customer base and build your brand as a community oriented business that welcomes all by providing a recharge point for electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters at your premises in the City or North Adelaide.
City of Adelaide is an Affiliate Member of Recharge SchemeTM and works with local businesses and organisations to provide the recharge points for the growing number of mobility devices in our community.
Users of mobility devices can be reluctant to make journeys for fear their batteries run flat and they become stranded. Providing RECHARGE PointsTM can allay these concerns and allow people to actively participate in the City.
It’s easy for your business to get involved. All you need is to provide a standard power point, have minimum $10 million public liability insurance, sign a simple registration form and meet some access and safety requirements. Council staff will meet you at your premises to talk through the process with you.
