Book a City Library Space

The City Library is a multipurpose space where possibility, creativity and innovation are fostered through cutting edge technologies, inspirational spaces and functional universal design.

Please note that capacity calculations are estimates only and are dependent on purpose and usage.

Wireless Internet is available in all City Library spaces.

Meeting Rooms

Traditional meeting rooms are joined by moveable walls to accommodate small, medium or large groups of people.

Meeting Rooms One and Two

  • Seminar mode up to 40 people

Meeting Room One

  • Average 25 m2
  • Seating capacity up to 10 people

Meeting Room Two

  • Average 25 m2

Studio One

A high- tech space with a wet area, projection facilities and moveable walls. It can function as a traditional meeting room or open up to create an exhibition space or amphitheatre.

  • Walls open up to amphitheatre for 80 people
  • Hand basin, sink, coffee machine, projection facilities, picture rails, whiteboard walls

Studio Two

A low-tech space for a diverse range of residencies, exhibitions or workshops.

  • Seating capacity up to 10 people
  • Sink, pin board, power supply

The Outdoor Room

An outdoor space with views from the hills to the ocean with the city skyline in between.

  • Average 35 m2
  • Café style seating with tables for up to 18 people. Can accommodate 40 people standing
  • Café style tables and chairs, heating, cooling

Digital Hub

  • Average 80 m2
  • Seating capacity up to 12 people plus instructor
  • Data points, computers, smart TV, broad selection of digital devices.

Media Lab

Innovation Lab

  • Average 40 m2
  • Seating capacity up to 8 people
  • Data points, tables, chairs, mobile benches
  • Three 3D printers, five 3Doodler Pens, one laser scanner, two PCs and one laptop

Innovation and Media Lab

  • Average 60 m2
  • Seminar mode up to 40 people

Garden Spaces

Available for Workshops and demonstrations

  • Planter boxes are located in the outdoor area, along the balcony facing Rundle Mall and a few locations inside the library

Multi-purpose area

  • Average 50 m2
  • Seating capacity up to 70 people. Standing capacity approximately 80 people comfortably
  • Water, sink, instant filtered hot and cold water, bench, café style benches and chairs

Multi-purpose area expanded

(Includes main entry and café seating area) • Can accommodate up to 200 people standing

  • PA sound system, projectors, picture hanging system from ceiling extending from main entry, seating.

Exhibition Spaces

Art and artifacts can be hung, placed or projected in a number of places around the library.

Hire Fees

All fees and charges for the use of the Centre including room hire and equipment are reviewed and set annually by Council and all fees are set in line with the running costs of the Centre. Fees will apply if a hirer has requested a City Library space and is charging participants.

Regular Bookings

Regular requests of the Centre by a Hirer must be approved by Council on an individual basis and hire fees and insurance requirements for regular and ongoing users are to be set by Council in negotiation with each group. Regular bookings may only be made 3 months in advance and must be limited to a maximum of 1 booking per week, 4 hours total, unless otherwise approved by Council

Tentative requests are held for a maximum of 5 business days, after which time the Hirer must confirm or Council will cancel the request.
