Upgrade To North Western Quadrant of Hindmarsh Square

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

The north western quadrant of Hindmarsh Square will undergo a routine safety audit and upgrade commencing 6 January 2015 and expected to take three weeks in total.

The scheduled upgrade to the interactive sculptures installed in the Square in 2006, will include replacing the playing surface with a more durable, heavier duty material selected to lengthen the life of the ground surface.

Flood lights will also be reviewed and replaced to ensure the safety of people using the quadrant at any time of the day or night.

Upgrade works will be carried out between 7am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday and noise will be kept to a minimum.

During this time the area will be cordoned off from the public and vehicular access will be restricted to the adjacent laneway. Pedestrian access will be maintained but access to the quadrant’s sculpture part will not be available.

Normal traffic flows are expected to be reinstated at the conclusion of the works which are subject to favourable weather conditions.
