Splash Adelaide in Winter - Applications Now Open

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

Following on from the huge success of Splash Adelaide over the spring, summer and autumn months, Splash Adelaide winter applications are now open.

This is the first time Splash Adelaide has called for events to be held through the cooler months and we are looking for people willing to don a coat and a hat and put their vision and flair into activating spaces around the city and North Adelaide.

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said Adelaide is a perfect position to activate underutilised spaces in and around the City during the coming winter months.

“The reality is Adelaide is not really that cold in winter, so I’m calling on people to put their thinking caps on and come up with great ideas about how they can make winter in the city the place to be through Splash Adelaide in winter,” said Stephen.

“There’s something really welcoming about Adelaide in winter, whether you want to see some live entertainment, visit a market, or try out some great street food. I know I’ll be out in my winter woollies enjoying Adelaide this winter.”

Vibrant City Program Manager Penny McAuley said she is constantly surprised and delighted at the creative and entrepreneurial ideas driven by the community.

“Splash is all about ideas and working together to make them happen. Rain, hail or shine, we’re working with the community to provide opportunities for everyone to have fun and experience new and exciting activities and events throughout the city and North Adelaide,” she said.

Applications open today and must be submitted by close of business on Tuesday 6 May.

Splash Adelaide Winter Season applicants will be notified if successful within a fortnight of the application closing date and the season will run from June through to the end of September.

People can apply by visiting splashadelaide.com.au and completing the application form.

Splash Adelaide is a campaign by the City of Adelaide that aims to bring our city streets and laneways to life through co-creation with the community.

People can find out what’s happening near them by downloading the Splash App, available free for iPhone and Android devices. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store simply by searching for “Splash Adelaide”.
