It’s Festival Season in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga

The content of this media release is over six months old and may no longer be current.

The Festival Season has well and truly begun and every corner of the city is filled with music, colour and activity. Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga has a program of FREE events and activities to suit all ages in a family-friendly environment, day and night.

City of Adelaide Lord Mayor Martin Haese said that Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga is a unique community event space during the Adelaide Fringe.

“The events and activities that have been programmed for the Square during the Festival Season cater to a wide range of age groups and interests and are accessible to everyone in the community.

“There are fitness and recreation sessions on some mornings for those who like to be active, and every Thursday at lunch time the Square comes alive with local music with Music in the Square and food trucks to feed the hungry lunch time hordes. As a UNESCO City of Music, council is a proud supporter of local music and this is a great opportunity to hear some of our brilliant local musicians.

“For two nights only, the Adelaide Night Market will be in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga on 3 and 4 March. There will be live music, workshops, performances, street food and beverages alongside a variety of clothing, jewellery, and artisan and cultural goods.

“Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga is the community heart of the city so I’d encourage everyone to put this on their Adelaide Fringe ‘to do’ list and take some time to enjoy the activities on offer.”

‘Dangerous Song’ on 17 March is a performance piece that combines the human voice with the sounds of endangered extinct animals to create an intriguing and moving musical performance. Held in conjunction with Transition Film Festival, Linsey Pollak and Lizzie O’Keefe will take the audience on a journey of sound where the animal and human combine.
