Fork on the Road and Splash Adelaide are celebrating the festive season this year with the Forkmas Christmas spectacular to be held on Friday 20 December in Light Square.

This special festive Fork on the Road will feature 30-plus new and regular food and beverage vendors parked for dinner between 4pm and 10pm in the heart of the city. To accompany the gastronomic delights will be a great selection of beer, wine, cider and sangria from the McLaren Vale area, and spirits from Kangaroo Island.

A ‘Gift Tree’ will also be set-up, with punters encouraged to bring along an unwrapped gift for a child (especially for children aged 6-12) that will be collected by the ‘Smith Family’ after the event.

Organiser Joe Noone said that Fork on the Road showcases Adelaide’s food trucks, vans, carts and bikes all in one location.

“Fork on the Road is a festival of delicious food where the food itself is the attraction.

“This special Christmas event will feature local musicians, and the ‘Play’ range of board games will be available for people to hire. A photo booth will be set up for those Christmas snaps, there will be a face painter for the kids and perhaps even a visit from the jolly red fellow,” Joe said.

Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said events like this brought the festive spirit to the city in a new way.

“The Fork on the Road events have proven to be very popular, and this one is just in time for the Christmas break-up. It will provide an opportunity to enjoy a unique food experience with music and entertainment, so bring your chairs, rugs, the family or your co-workers to celebrate on the last Friday before Christmas.”

Splash Adelaide is an initiative of the City of Adelaide that enables the community to bring our city streets, parks, squares and laneways to life both day and night, through a variety of events and activities.
