Robert Simms

Area Councillor

Councillor Rob Simms

It’s an honour to represent our community as an Area Councillor for Adelaide City Council.

I’m passionate about making Adelaide one of the world’s great small cities. I first began working in the city more than 10 years ago and since that time I have seen Adelaide undergo an exciting transformation, but there is still lots of work to do.

My vision is for an Adelaide that is a leader in sustainability, creativity and social justice. A city for all of us.

I’ve spent my working life standing up for our community and am committed to public service. I started my career as a policy advocate in the youth sector, where I campaigned for the rights of young people in juvenile detention. As a Senator for our state, I fought to stop BP’s drilling in the Great Australian Bight and campaigned for local jobs in advanced manufacturing and renewables. It’s a privilege to continue the fight for people and our planet on the City Council.

I hold a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice (Honours), a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in politics and sociology) and a Graduate Certificate in Journalism. I work in the University sector and live as an owner-occupier in Adelaide’s South Ward.

I was first elected to Adelaide City Council in 2014 (served 2014-2015) and was returned at the 2018 election.

If I can assist you with a Council issue, do not hesitate to get in touch.
