The Rose Inn, Sturt Street, Adelaide.

Established as the Rose Inn on the north-west corner of Sturt Street and Russell Street in 1840. Was known as the Carlton from 1923 to 1967, then reverted to the Rose until it ceased trading in 1975. The building survives, with some alteration, including new facade.

TO THE EDITOR.
Sir-I note a letter signed "Wm, Bending,Sturt street, appearing in this morning's issue of The Advertiser, and attacking the Hon. C.C. Kingston. Permit me to say that you have been imposed upon, and that the letter is a forgery. I am the only Wm. Bending, of Sturt street, or, indeed, in the city, I have lived in West Adelaide for more than 30 years, and the letter is a cruel fraud, calculated to do me grave injury, I sympathise entirely with unionism, and in common with many others, am thankful to Mr. Kingston for his efforts in the cause.
