The City of Adelaide took control of the Central Market Arcade when the ground lease expired in September 2018. With the last redevelopment occurring in the 1960’s, the return of the Central Market Arcade provides the City of Adelaide with a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive major change within the heart of the Market District.
The City of Adelaide is targeting commencement of works on the Central Market Arcade site by 2020.
Expression of Interest is now closed.
Expression of Interest (EOI) release to the development industry
The City of Adelaide undertook a multi-stage Expression of Interest (EOI) process to seek a development partner for the Central Market Arcade site. The Stage 1 of the EOI process was released via the City of Adelaide’s property advisor JLL and included a local, national and international call-out to the development industry.
The City of Adelaide then shortlisted developers / consortia from the Stage 1 EOI. Shortlisted developers / consortia subsequently prepared detailed development proposals as part of a Stage 2 process.
The City of Adelaide is continuing to work through detailed proposals for the site with a view to realising the site vision, redevelopment objectives and guiding principles. Selection of a preferred proponent is anticipated during early to mid-2019 subject to Council consideration.
