City Storytelling

Every year, we celebrate the diverse and rich community that makes up the City of Adelaide in the form of a creative city story telling project.

Creative Workshops 2018

The 2018 creative community storytelling project saw the Community Development team facilitate a range of creative workshops at the Minor works Building in the evenings during April and May 2018. From macrame to photography, crochet to ceramics, it was an inspiring series of classes!

The Local Project 2017

Your ‘local’ stories of the city were collected: the stories that only 'locals' know… the local characters, the natural wonders, the rhythms of the City of Adelaide. Documenting your connection to the city. A public art exhibition of the collected stories featuring the 'art cubes' was launched at the end of September, like a giant scrapbook. The exhibition was launched at the Minor Works Building, and then travelled to various locations across the city, beginning at the ERGO Apartment public walkway, before moving to Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) and Glover Playground / Nantu Wama (Park 6). Locals were asked to continue to share their stories using the picture frames provided.

The Postcard Project 2016

Celebrating the City’s strong and diverse community. Challenging perceptions of your neighbourhood. The city is a place that is human, and we all have a story. The Postcard Project asked you the question ‘If I could tell people one thing about my life it would be that….’
