New Year’s Eve 2019 event - sustainability education

The annual City of Adelaide New Year’s Eve event in Elder Park attracts over 50,000 over the duration of the event. The program includes live music, a dedicated kid’s zone, roving performers, catering outlets, licenced bar areas, and two fireworks displays.

Volunteers will work individually near waste stations, proactively educating the community about event waste in a friendly, non-confrontational manner, helping patrons to use the correct bins.

The volunteers may also assist in the information booth.

There will be two shifts available to choose from: (6:00 pm to 9:30 pm, and 9:30 pm to 12:30 am).

This role would suit someone who is passionate about environmental sustainability, enjoys large-scale community events and meeting new people from diverse backgrounds, can work in crowded settings and is available to do a late night shift on New Years Eve.

A briefing session will be held prior to the event to ensure good understanding and confidence in the role.
