Cool Wayfinding Tool
City of Adelaide's Cool Wayfinding Tool is an online map that helps people find the most comfortable walking routes in the city on hot summer days.
It uses heat maps and route analysis to suggest the coolest paths to get you to your destination.
The model considers relative variations in heat, tree canopy, greenspace, water, street furniture that is validated using the City of Adelaide's Microclimate sensors and Landsat thermal imagery. For convenience in planning your route the locations of nearby public seating and drinking fountains have been included.
Thermal Imagery is also available to visualise the relative average heat difference across the city, to show the cooler areas on an average day.
