Established in 1837 as Fordham's Hotel, became the Sturt Hotel in 1845 and the Sturt Arcade from 1886 until its closure in the early 1990s. The building in this photograph dates from 1885 and no longer exists.

'£65 Fine for Betting
Donald Lancelot Brougham, clerk, of Adelaide, was fined £65 in No. 2 Adelaide Police Court today for having been in the Sturt Arcade Hotel, Adelaide, on July 11 for the purpose of betting. Evidence was given by Plainclothes Constables Gardner and Nicholls. Mr. R. A. Lenthall prosecuted and Mr. E. Millhouse appeared for Brougham.'
