Gresham Hotel, Cnr King William Street & North Terrace, 1898

Photo taken 30 August 1898

State Library Catalogue Reference: B 2956

Photographer: Ernest Gall.

Due to its prominent site, the hotel was an Adelaide landmark. Established in 1851 this photograph shows the hotel after it was rebuilt in 1873/74. It had a large cast-iron verandah with balcony and columns grouped in pairs to emphasise the cut off corner and the principal entrance. The hotel was demolished in 1965 to make way for the AMP (now Origin) Building.
