The Family Hotel, 137 King William Street, was established as the Family Hotel in 1857 and changed to the Criterion in 1864. The building underwent several changes over its history. Demolished in 2010.

On the left is the old General Post Office. In the centre is the Family Hotel. The publican at this time is William Hubble. Note the archway supporting a large lamp at the kerb in front of the hotel.
