The Earl of Zetland Hotel was on the north-east corner of Flinders Street and Gawler Place. Established in 1869 and demolished in the mid 1990s. Before the hotel closed it was well known for one of the largest collections of single malt whiskies available in the world.

"BARMAN FINED
A barman, Herman Hans Nenke, of the Earl of Zetland Hotel, Gawler place City, was fined £5, reduced to £2 with 10/ costs in the Adelaide Police Court today for having unlawfully carried away liquor from the hotel at 6.35 p.m. on January 7."
