Established in 1846 on the north-east corner of Hindley Street and Bank Street. Rebuilt in 1905 and ceased trading in 1978. This 1905 building still exists, although as a fast food restaurant.

'BEER-DRINKING ON SUNDAY,
Not a Bona-Fide Traveller.
Albert Thomas, a young man, was charged at the Adelaide Police Court on Friday with, by falsely representing himself to be a bona-fide traveller, unlawfully obtaining liquor on Sunday, December 8, at the Eagle Hotel, Hindley-street.
Inspector Burchell prosecuted and the defendant pleaded guilty. Inspector Davey said he visited the Eagle Hotel at 4.30 p.m. on December 8 and saw the defendant having a drink. When questioned he said he was asked and stated that he was a bona-fide traveller before he was served. The accused said he did not know at the time that he was breaking the law. He recently came from Western Australia, where a person was looked upon as a traveller who journeyed three miles. He thought he was a bona-fide traveller when he told the people at the Eagle Hotel that he was. The Bench fined the defendant £1, with 15/ court fees.'
