Splash Adelaide Summer Applications Open Now

Summer may be a little while away yet, but it’s now time to submit those creative ideas for the next summer season of Splash Adelaide.

Splash Adelaide partners and co-creates with the community to bring the city’s spaces to life with unique events and activities – whether in a hidden laneway, on a breezy rooftop or in a bustling square. It takes a ‘lighter, quicker, cheaper’ approach to trial new ideas and see what works in city spaces.

Applications for the Splash summer season are now open, with a wide range of support options available to city businesses, entrepreneurs, community groups and individuals with bright ideas to add to the city’s summer buzz.

Previous activities have included music events such as Aqua Beats, street poetry, Boucle De Burbs, food festivals, plays, and art events.

City of Adelaide Deputy Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor is encouraging anyone with an idea to submit an application.

“Splash Adelaide provides an opportunity to contribute to the cultural, social and economic vitality of the city,” Sandy said.

“The program supports and encourages innovation and entrepreneurial partnerships, enabling quick implementation and small scale activation to test out concepts.

“Through Splash, the City of Adelaide can provide access to funding, promotional support, and to prime CBD sites.

“Every season I am amazed and impressed by the variety of creative, fun and often one-of-a-kind ideas for activations and events that add life and colour across the city’s places and spaces.

“Each successful applicant will get a dedicated Council contact who will support them from start to finish to get their idea off the ground. We’ll also help them reach new audiences and connect to local communities.

“Over 220,000 people come into the city every day, and summer draws even more people into the city day and night and on weekends. It’s a great opportunity for someone with a creative idea to reach a large number of people and to be part of all the exciting summer action.”

Applications are now open and must be submitted online at splashadelaide.com.au by midnight 20 August 2017. Successful applicants will be notified within a month of the application closing date, with the summer season running from October 2017 through to April 2018.

People can find out what’s happening near them by downloading the Splash App, available free for iPhone and Android devices.
