City of Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve free community event, held in Elder Park on the banks of the Torrens each year, was recently recognised by the Australian Event Awards 2014 judging panel as Coates Hire Best Community Event in SA for 2013.

Preparations are well underway for the Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve 2014 event, and this year Council has teamed up with Channel 9, BankSA and Fresh 92.7, to add a new element to the line-up – best new electronic music talent.

All South Australian electronic-based acts, either electronic with a live component, or live with an electronic component are invited to upload a sample of their work to the Fresh 92.7 website before 5pm on 30 October to be in the running.

Council CEO Peter Smith is encouraging the Adelaide community to join him on the banks of the Torrens to welcome in the New Year at this much loved annual celebration, which last year supported 52 South Australian musicians to showcase their talent and ignite the night to an audience in excess of 30,000 people, with Channel 9 News fireworks at 9 pm and midnight.

“This year, in cooperation with Fresh 92.7 and our other partners, we’re bringing something new to the line-up and we’re really looking forward to seeing the crowd sample some new local talent on stage while seeing in the new year,” said Peter.

Troy Sincock, General Manager of Fresh 92.7, the voice of young Adelaide with an exciting dance music format, sees the Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve as a great opportunity for some new talent to take centre stage.

“We’re looking for an Adelaide-based artist or act to play a set at the Rotunda Stage at Elder Park on New Year’s Eve,” said Troy.

“To be considered your application requires an example of your original work, the majority of the performers must be SA-based, and you’ll need to be available to perform at the Win a Gig live competition at Channel 9 Saturday November 15 between 7.30 and 9pm.”

“It is an amazing opportunity for a local outfit to get huge exposure especially when you consider that more than 30,000 people come into the city for the event each year,” he said.

More information on Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve 2014 will be announced in November 2014.
