No Parking in Victoria Park for 2013 Pedal Prix this Sunday

City of Adelaide has assessed parking conditions in Victoria Park for this weekend’s HPV Pedal Prix Super Series. Due to extensive rainfall over the past week, conditions in the park have deteriorated and there will be no parking available in Victoria Park on Sunday.

Council’s Manager of Public Realm, Tom McCready said safety for the general public has to come first and even if the weather was to clear up by Sunday, the ground will not have recovered sufficiently to enable parking.

“The huge amounts of rain we have had over the past week or so has made the grass extremely soft and muddy, and there’s now a high risk vehicles could become bogged,” Tom said.

There is a significant amount of unrestricted parking in the vicinity of Victoria Park with parking restrictions in the Streets managed by City of Adelaide remaining unchanged.

Unrestricted parking is available on Wakefield Road and on East Terrace between Halifax and Angas Streets and Gilles Street and South Terrace. There is also some unrestricted car parking on Fullarton Road and Greenhill Road adjacent the Park Lands and the event area.

Pirie Flinders UPark provides a flat fee of $6 on Sundays, and is a 1 kilometre walk from Victoria Park. For location details see upark.com.

Pedal Prix organisers have been informed and are understanding of the need to cancel parking due to the weather conditions. They will also be arranging communication through their website and direct to teams.

Regular parking conditions will be in place in all other areas and people are advised to check the parking conditions prior to leaving their vehicles.
