Have Your Say On The Draft City Of Adelaide Strategic Plan

Following its endorsement by Council this week, the City of Adelaide is asking for the community’s feedback on its Draft City of Adelaide 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.

With an aspirational vision for Adelaide to be the world’s most liveable city, the plan will guide the actions and decisions of the City of Adelaide through to 2024. From this plan, Councillors and staff will develop Council’s priorities, plans, actions, projects and annual budgets.

Following several weeks of public consultation throughout September and October, where the community were asked to imagine their future Adelaide, Council has developed its vision and key outcomes it aims to achieve over the next four years.

Council’s vision in the Draft Plan is: “Adelaide: the most liveable city in the world” and the key outcomes supporting the vision are:

• Thriving Communities: The City of Adelaide will support the wellbeing of our communities.
• Environmental Leadership: Our leadership will see the city manage our energy, water and waste in a sustainable way and encourage minimisation of waste, supporting the transition to a greener city.
• Strong Economies: The Council will leverage our Ten Gigabit connectivity to ensure Adelaide is globally-recognised as an affordable and exciting place of choice to do business.
• Beautiful, Surprising Places: Adelaide is a beautiful, diverse city that will celebrate its natural, cultural and built heritage, while making accessible new spaces.
• A Connected and Accessible city: Council will work to transform the ways people move around and connect with each other.
• Excellent Governance: We will continually improve both our internal governance and the way we do business with others, always working towards maximising community benefit and social equity.

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor said the document is a plan to ensure Councillors and the community can share a vision for the future and embrace the opportunities around us.

“Adelaide is a beautiful, well-organised city that operates on a human-scale. It is low-cost, globally connected, and poised at the edge of many new possibilities,” said the Lord Mayor.

“This plan continues to develop Adelaide as the most liveable city in the world.”

The Consultation Draft Plan will be available to view and comment on from today to 9am on
