Get ready to slide into school holidays at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre

To celebrate the start of the spring school holidays, Adelaide Aquatic Centre and Asthma SA have teamed up to present the `Take a Breather’ Family Fun Day to be held Monday 30 September from 11am to 4pm.

The Adelaide Aquatic Centre, an AUSTSWIM recognised centre, is the first of its kind in Australia to achieve Asthma Australia’s “Asthma Friendly” accreditation.

The fun will start with the launch of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre’s giant inflatables including an impressive inflatable thrill slide which reaches 7.5 metres in height from the dive tower into the main pool and is suitable for anyone over 8 years of age who is a competent swimmer.

“This is a good opportunity for families to get out and enjoy our wonderful aquatic centre whilst at the same time helping support a great cause,” said Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood.

Research shows that swimming can really help minimise asthma symptoms, so why not come along to the Aquatic Centre and enjoy the fun?

“The younger children can have their faces painted, try the jumping castle, or create their own play spaces using the Imagination Playground equipment,” said Stephen.

Fairy floss, a new inflatable challenge and a variety of fun activities and games on the day mean there’s something for everyone.

Gareth Dunne, Manager of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre expects the new inflatables and ‘Thrill and Spill Pass’ to be hugely popular, and assist in the Centre catering better to the family market.

“The best thing about the inflatables, other than the fun aspect, is that kids are learning how to balance, gain coordination and manage themselves in and around water without even realising it - they’re a fun activity with elements of learning built in,” he said.

For parents and caregivers, Adelaide Aquatic Centre has installed new café seating, and a new child play area to help you relax whilst enjoying a coffee or something to eat in the ‘Splash Café’.

Part proceeds from the day will go to Asthma SA so people should join the fun at the Aquatic Centre and help raise funds for a worthy cause.
