Freestyle Football Workshops and Titles Arrive in Adelaide

Oceania Freestyle Football, OF3, is coming to Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga this July school holidays with a series of 30 minute freestyle football workshops between 12pm and 2pm on Friday 10 July.

Created for young people aged between 13 and 17, the workshops give participants a chance to learn the art of freestyle football.

People can learn tricks including juggling, blocking and flipping the ball up in the air and the infamous around the world manoeuvre from some of the best freestylers in Australia.

Lord Mayor Martin Haese said giving young people things to do in our beautiful city during the school holidays is a great way to encourage being active in the city.

“This is a great opportunity and we’re expecting to see a big crowd joining in on the workshops and developing some new skills – who knows we might discover the next freestyle football champion.

“It really is a great time in Adelaide with the Australian Freestyle Football titles also being held for the first time in Adelaide at the Telstra Plaza at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 11 July, people should put on their coats and get out and amongst it,” said Martin.

Sixteen of Australia’s best freestylers will vie for the title of Australian Freestyle Football Champion.

OF3 president Paul Harvey expects a large turnout including South Australian freestyle footballers to the event.

“The competition this year is really strong with all the guys progressing quickly, competing to earn points to make it onto the F3 world tour.

“The support we have had through Splash Adelaide and Adelaide Oval has made the event relatively easy to organise and we are looking forward to a couple of great events on Friday and Saturday,” said Paul.

There will also be a demonstration by freestyle footballers at 5pm Friday 10 July in Rundle Mall at the Gawler Place Canopy for those who want a taste of what is in store at the titles.

The workshops will run in 30minute blocks and attendees are encouraged to secure their spot by visiting www.of3.com.au/contact-us.
