Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve in Elder Park 2019 is sure to be an electric experience this year with award-winning Electric Fields heading the musical line-up.

Singing in Pitjantjatjara and English, Electric Fields bridge cultures and identities, with seamless merging of pop, electronic and soul and their powerful live show winning them fans in Australia, China, Edinburgh and the USA.

Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve at Elder Park is a family-friendly way to celebrate and enjoy Adelaide’s status as a UNESCO City of Music while welcoming in the New Year. With a jam-packed program of live music and dance, family entertainment and two spectacular Fireworks displays, presented by HomeStart Finance, it’s guaranteed to be the biggest party in town.

Lord Mayor of Adelaide Sandy Verschoor said that Elder Park and the Riverbank are the perfect place to see in the New Year.

“Bringing in the New Year at Elder Park has become a tradition for many friends and families. The two sets of fireworks, the first at 9pm and the second at midnight, mean that the young ones with an earlier bed time will still get to enjoy the thrill of watching the night sky light up.

“The pop-up playspace and dedicated Kids Zone featuring kids’ cabaret performer DJ Monski Mouse will keep the little ones entertained, while all the family can enjoy the roving performers in the carnival like atmosphere.

“The live music program will be a celebration of South Australian music, featuring some of our finest acts ranging from electronic, blues and soul, indie pop, and world music sounds.

“It will be a great night for everyone, so come along and enjoy a night of fantastic fun and entertainment at the city’s premier New Year’s Eve event.”

John Oliver, CEO HomeStart Finance, said, “Our team at HomeStart is so pleased to again support South Australians in celebrating the year that’s been and the year ahead with their loved ones.

“We are excited to again be collaborating with City of Adelaide on Adelaide’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebration. HomeStart is looking forward to enjoying the fireworks with the thousands that attend this world class event, staged on our stunning Riverbank.”

The Rotunda will be illuminated with light, providing a stunning platform for this year’s local music and dance performances, including brother and sister duo Johnny BoBo, Bollywood dancers Mudra Dance, choral ensemble Gospo Collective, multi-instrumentalist Bortier Okoe, and DJ Tim Whitt who will get everyone dancing into the New Year.

Also on the bill is 22 year old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Adelaide Hills, Ollie English, along with Triple J Unearthed indie-pop singer-songwriter Jess Day.

There will be a huge variety of global cuisines on offer, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, otherwise feel free to bring a picnic basket full of goodies. There will be dedicated licenced areas to enjoy a drink.

The City of Adelaide is working toward more sustainable events. This year’s event will be straw-free, with reusable straws available if required upon request. All food packaging from vendors will be compostable and can be deposited in the organics collection bins onsite along with any food scraps. Free water refills will be available so bring a reusable water bottle, and the event will also be balloon-free.

The City of Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve event is proudly supported by principle partner HomeStart Finance, along with our other partners Pirate Life Brewing, Sidewood Estate, Mix 102.3 and the Government of South Australia.
