Smart parking in the City of Adelaide moves another step closer

The City of Adelaide has issued a letter of intent to Smart Parking Limited for the roll-out of smart parking technology throughout the city.

This follows a comprehensive tender process over the last eight months to seek proposals from experienced parking sensor technology providers to supply and implement smart parking technology in the city.

Smart Parking Limited is a global company with offices and teams in Australia and around the world. Their technology has been adopted in 17 countries and they have installed over 55,500 wireless sensors across the globe.

They will provide advanced, real-time vehicle parking sensor solutions and integrated smart parking services for the City of Adelaide’s smart parking project.

Lord Mayor of Adelaide Martin Haese said that he was pleased that the implementation of smart parking in the City of Adelaide was getting closer.

“Smart Parking Limited is a global company at the cutting edge of smart parking technology, using an innovative cloud-based platform that will provide our city’s visitors with an easy-to-use app at their fingertips.

“We want people to come into the city and enjoy their visit, and parking is often a concern for visitors.

“The technology will include sensors along with an app that will provide the public with accurate real-time information about parking availability and its controls, allow users to pay for their parking session, and enable drivers to top-up their payment remotely.

“The implementation of Smart Parking Technology on-street will be a first for South Australia. Not only will this technology put people first, it will also position Adelaide as a leading smart city.”

Smart parking technology will provide greater choices and improve customer service for city visitors. Importantly, it will further reduce the need for, and number of, parking expiations throughout the city.

The negotiations with Smart Parking Limited are expected to be finalised in the New Year, with work to install the sensors beginning soon after.
